Real Madrid Emerges as Front-Runner: Jude Bellingham's Departure from Borussia Dortmund Imminent
Jude Bellingham, the talented English teenager, seems to have been granted permission to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with Real Madrid leading the race to secure his signature.
Following his own request, Bellingham was left out of Dortmund's crucial final day clash, signaling his intentions for a potential departure. Subsequently, he engaged in crucial discussions with influential figures at the club, hinting at an imminent separation.
Dortmund's aspirations for the Bundesliga title came to a disappointing end on the last day of the season, settling for a 2-2 draw against Mainz. Despite battling a knee injury and missing the final two matches, Bellingham was awarded the league's player of the season accolade.
Enduring the pain of falling short in their bid to end Bayern Munich's decade-long dominance, Bellingham, along with his family, were the last to depart the Signal Iduna Park on that Saturday.
Soon after, on Monday, Bellingham, having allowed himself a day to grieve, became the first player to report to Dortmund's training center. There, he held discussions with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's CEO, as well as sporting director Sebastian Kehl and coach Edin Terzic.
The nature of such a meeting inherently implies discussions about the player's future, and it appears that the 19-year-old had long made up his mind: he seeks new challenges elsewhere.
Dortmund will regret the fact that Bellingham couldn't assist them in capturing the title before his departure. However, Real Madrid presents him with an opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize in club football, the UEFA Champions League.
Negotiations between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have already commenced, with several video meetings held to determine the financial terms required for Bellingham's transfer to Spain. The fee is speculated to be in the region of 100 million euros, complemented by potential add-ons.
Nevertheless, the key point of discussion revolves around the payment structure. Real Madrid aims to distribute the payment over multiple years, dividing it into three or four installments. While this approach may result in greater long-term expenditure, the club is willing to accommodate Dortmund's financing schedule, understanding Bellingham's significance to their future plans.
With the conclusion of the season, Real Madrid hopes to swiftly finalize the deal. Bellingham is expected to sign a six-year contract, joining the revamped and modernized Madrid midfield, as the club continues to shape its future aspirations.
